UMBRELLA OF HAPPINESS

Rain drops are falling

The flowers are blooming

The children are playing

Puddles are full

Birds are a fluttering their wings

The monsoon is here

The clouds are dancing

Colorful, wide and smiling

My umbrella of happiness is open gain!

DESTINY CALLING

This my destiny!

This is my calling!

Oh my beloved!

Will you walk me through?

Holding hands !

Leading me!

Embracing me!

All the way across!

To the other side of life

Where there is no you and no I

No us and them

No here and there

Where there is only true love

Oh my beloved!

To this land of silent eternity

Will you come with me?

WRONG FOOT

One step on the wrong foot!

A twist unwanted

A hurt unintended

Burdened by a heavy heart

Oh my dear!

Will you forgive me?

RIVER SIDE SONG

The meandering river side

The cool embracing breeze

You and I

Lost in singing!

The boat man waits!

MONSOON LONGING

The thunder roars

 Black clouds gather

Lightning flashes

The rain pours

Sitting by the window

My heart longs for you!

RAIN DROPS AND CRIMSON

Crimson and green

The trickling blue

Leaf and flower swaying

 Little puddles, muddy bubbles

Umbrellas and colored coats

Happiness and wet souls

All drenched now

As I dance in the falling rain!

DEW DROPS AND PEACE

Dew drops on a lotus leaf

No sorrow, no grief!

Accepting evanescence!

Allowing transcendence

No craving; no Clinging!

Neither to water; nor to leaf

Free to be; free to flow

Wherever or whenever!

All is bliss! All is peace!

SLOW AND SILENT

Slow and silent

The sun rises

The flower blossoms

The fruit ripens

Mindful in contemplation

Slow and silent

I too shall let go !

BEAUTIFUL MYSTERY

Oh mysterious life!

 How beautiful you are!

You come in a flash

You go in another

Yet you are so full of miracles

You are so full of mystery

I am nothing here before you

Nothing before your vast expanse

Nothing before your intricate web of causation

Yet you give me a glimpse of your magnificence

Oh mysterious life

How beautiful you are!

CAMEL ON THE BOOK SHELF

Jeweled camel on the shelf!

More precious than gems and gold!

Two Rings!

Hidden within

A life; a love

A story untold!

Calm still

Never to be forgotten

The Eternal jewel of Love!

COMPLICATED PLIGHT

Why this plight

Oh my love

We knew then

We know now

Yet we twist

Yet we complicate

Why not!

 Just let go!

Why Not!

You and I

Just be in Love!

FULL MOON IN JUNE

Mid June night

Full moon light

As The clouds pass by

A mind lost in contemplation

All is clear; all is bright!

SEEING YOU HIDE

I see you in the blue sky

I see you in the vast sea

You wander everwhere

Far away by a lonely brook

Lost within a busy market

And even in my unkempt garden

Tell me oh dear!

But why do still hide from me?

RINGING SILENCE

The plangent bell rings

My breath slows

Life blossoms

Happiness flows

Yet deep within!

Silence remains!

BLUE GREEN PERFECTION

Soft foots steps on the moist soil

The soothing morning air

Freshness of the green below

Vastness of the blue above

Happiness is every where!

Caught between in perfection

My joyful heart sings

RAIN IN PARADISE

Rain drops are falling

Crimson flowers are smiling

Green leaves are dancing

The sky is happy

The earth is too

Oh! Am I really in paradise!

MISSING FACE

I can still feel your warm breath

Gently blowing over my face

I can still feel!

Your endearing tight embrace

The first kiss; and the last

Yet my dear

Where is thy face?

TROUBLED SEPARATION

Pointlessly Separated!

Two lost souls

Troubled waters between

Seeping venom of delusion

Floating scum of conceit

The heretic says!

Come, my dear!

Why not walk this bridge of Love!

CELESTIAL DREAM

The silver moonlight

Upon your glowing face

The darkness of the night

Flowing down as you hair

The twinkle of the stars

Sparkling in your eyes

The warmth of the breeze

In Your ever embracing smile

Tell me my dear!

Is all this just a dream?

THE WOLF OF GUBBIO

Vultures circled and flew high
The land seemed deserted
Leaf-less trees stood pointlessly still
High upon the rocks of a barren peak
Rising from the dark shadows
He snarled!
He howled!
His eyes were blood shot
In them, the Terror was red!
Shining in the silvery moon light!
His Ivory canines, craved for a kill!
Mortal fear clutched the soil
The gates of Gubbio rattled
Remnants of gut and bone
Mixed with the pungent smell of fear
Filled the cold winter air
No one dared to leave home
For anyone who dared
Never returned!
No one but, Saint Francis
Saint Francis of Assisi!

A man of the lord; a man of compassion
A man of word and deed!
Having been called upon
Called upon by the people of Gubbio
Having been called upon in desperation
Saint Francis of Assisi
Prayed and contemplated!
Opened the creaky gates of Gubbio
Made a sign of the cross
And entered the fanged land of the wolf!

A sudden movement of the shadows!
A sudden appearance!
Growling to announce!
Crouching to pounce
Fire in his eyes!
Fangs exposed!
The Wolf of Gubbio!
The man of Assisi turned
A gentle smile adorned his face
He reached out!
Reached out to the yearning beast!
The wolf in return!
Snarled!

Looking into his fiery eyes of terror !
He saw his hidden fear
Through his aggressive demeanour
He saw the unhealed wounds of his past
Through his thirst for blood
He saw the whole of human nature
Deep within; as he looked
He saw his own loving heart!
He saw the churning of the whole universe
He saw the Almighty Lord himself!
As the sea of compassion grew and swelled within
He smiled again!
Made a sign of the cross
And thus he spoke!

“Come brother wolf
I will not hurt you “
“I come here in good will “
“So let us talk in peace “
“Why is it dear brother?
That you attack humans? “
And as he spoke to the wildness of the wolf
He could see into the unseen depths of canine life!
Left to die, by his own pack!
Owing to injury
Little, poor, brother wolf
 Hunting to survive
Eating to sustain
Came up on us, the easy pray
He did not have choice!
Nor did he have ability!
 To overcome his instincts
Poor brother wolf!
He too strived to be free of suffering!

As the sun of understanding was now shining
The sea of compassion was full
The rain of love descended on the duo
The fire in the eyes of the wolf transformed into tears
As he experienced love for the first time
He found in this great man of Assisi
Someone who could finally understand him!
His eyes once burning; were now placid pools of love
His once raised tail, dropped down!
And now wagged in serenity
His aggression within, transformed to affection
With love overflowing in both their hearts
Saint Francis of Assisi
And the canine of Gubbio
Embraced in loving peace!

And so in peace they promised!
Francis of Assisi
On behalf of Gubbio
Promised the wolf, food for life
And brother wolf in return
Promised peace and tranquillity!

As they walked back into the gates of Gubbio
To proclaim peace to one and all
Love from their hearts overflowed!
Overflowed and filled the warm evening
Embracing all in its path
Blurring with it, all lines of separation
The separation between wolf and saint!
Between Good and evil; between defiled and immaculate
There was no more wolf; no more saint
Glowing warmly within!

There is only Love!
